Welcome to Move Gym! We are a COVIDSafe business & have a COVID-19 plan in place to make our training environment as safe for you as possible.

Our focus is helping you move better, develop useful & practical strength, reconnect with your body & build confidence. If you don't like the gym, then you're in the right place because we're not anything like gyms you've been to!

Our new training studio opened at 14/659 Young St Albury opened late July 2019. We have everything you need to achieve your training goals.

My number one goal as a trainer & coach is to help you avoid injury & move the best you can.

Do want to get the most out of life? Then you need a strong body that moves well. And if your 20's are in the rear-view mirror chances are you don't move like you used to!

Private one-on-one personal training sessions are perfect for helping you get strong, move better and regain confidence in your body. Combined with making better food choices you'll have more energy to be more active every day. There's no such thing as a quick fix that has any lasting results, so we don't waste your time on novel training that is only designed to make you "feel the burn" - whatever that means!

I love to coach. There are few things more satisfying than helping someone make a plan, work hard and achieve a goal. This, together with my love of fitness is why I enjoy being a personal trainer. After 8 years I have learned that no matter who you are or what limitations you face, there are ways to help you get stronger & healthier.

My fitness journey
I dabbled in team sports (particularly in my teens) but my natural ability was always for endurance sports. After giving up on football at 18 I got hooked on triathlon and then my talent for bike riding led me to pursue elite road cycling in my early twenties, before giving it all away at the ripe old age of 22 to have a "normal" working career! Around my 30th birthday I got back into running and through my early thirties dabbled again in triathlon which I enjoyed, but was frustrated by injuries. In the last few years
trail running and obstacle course racing have been my main sports and I
had numerous Spartan Race top-ten finishes in the Elite category through 2017-2018 before another injury - this time to my knee - put me on the sidelines again. These days I'm back to bike riding with a focus on time trialling.

My personal training career (so far)
In 2011 my best mate talked me into becoming a personal trainer and later that year I started my first business venture with outdoor bootcamps. After a few years the cold Albury winters got too much for me & I transitioned to indoor training, renting a space at the Albury PCYC & began to do more one-on-one training. In 2016 I turned the home garage into a PT studio before taking over my mate's PT business at the end of that same year. In July 2019 I had the opportunity to move Move Gym (for the 5th time!) to its current location in Young St where I intend to stay!

Over the last 8-9 yearsI have trained mums and dads, kids, grandparents, elite athletes, footballers and netballers of various abilities, tennis players, marathon runners, cyclists, weightloss and weight gain clients - and by far my biggest lesson has been that everyone moves differently and everyone is dysfunctional in their own unique way! I have learned to recognize good smooth movement versus poor restricted movement, and have learned many tricks to help each person get moving the best they can. Often this is achieved working with physiotherapists, osteopaths and other allied health professionals.

Being 43 years old, married, and father to 2 young girls I have had to discover a lot about work-life-training balance. My own fitness training is very focused and follows a structured plan, and I take this attitude into training my clients although their sessions are specific to what they need, not what I do personally. I have also had to train around back & knee injuries which has helped me with finding training solutions for my clients, no matter what issues they have.

I love to motivate my Move Gym clients to pursue activities outside the gym. To me, training for fitness is pointless if it doesn't open up your world and let you experience more of life. For some this has meant being able to carry the grandkids around for the first time or signing up for a fun run, while others have completed marathons, discovered a passion for cycling, or had the confidence to go on overseas trips.  I even had one client motivated enough to enter a bare-knuckle karate tournament! All have rediscovered physical strength & mobility which they had often given up on. The truth is your fittest days may be behind you, but your smartest days are still ahead!

I love the challenge of helping people achieve their goals in and out of the gym. If it sounds like I could help you, please get in touch!
