I am a certified Athletics Australia Running Coach and specialise in helping people get started or back into running. If you have been injured or are in your 30's or 40's (or both) then I can help. We always start with a simple "run until you can't, walk until you can" approach. This is combined with specific core and strength training will help your body absorb the demands of running and also avoid injuries.

You already know this - but there's no quick fixes with diet. Our approach to nutrition is to help you develop individual strategies to managing your eating. We have recommended the CSIRO low carb diet which several clients have had success with, but we don't sell a particular program or product as my experience is that people don't stick to diets long term.
So what actually works? The biggest long term successes happen when you getting really strong and fit - and then realise that your diet is holding you back. Otherwise, why change it?
My own research and gut feeling (so to speak) is that being overweight is much more complicated than simply being too busy or having too many easy "fast food" options. So often there are deeper reasons for being overweight and until you address them all the information in the world won't help.

Group fitness is where it all started for me. While focusing all my energy on one-on-one training for the last 2 years I have been thinking about how to offer the benefits of individual training with the unique dynamic of a group environment. Small Group Training is the answer! The Winter program kicks off the week of June 4 offering Women's Fitness, Run Club, Stretch & Relax, & Spartan Endurance classes.

Capped Sizes. Don’t get lost in the crowd! With capped class sizes you get the personal attention you need and space to move. Our training studio is modern, bright and air conditioned year-round.
10 Week Term.Committing to 10 weeks brings focus to your training and helps measure progress. You’ll also train with the same crew for 10 weeks.
Individual and Goal Focused. Group fitness usually caters to the lowest ability level and is often too hard, too easy or prescribes exercises that are wrong for you. Examples are endless planks, squats and push-ups for desk-bound people. Our program starts with your personal goals in mind and tracks your workouts, which are assessed and adjusted session to session so you keep progressing.
Knowing that your body is strong, flexible and fit brings confidence. Our Women’s Fitness classes don’t have a catchy name, but they are based on 8 years of experience training women from all different backgrounds. Particular areas of focus are core strength, posture issues, shoulder and wrist strength – but this will depend on your own individual needs. Capped at 8 people.
The occasional calf-raise and hamstring stretch. Most runners hope that will prepare them for hopping from one foot to another for hours at a time, taking 3-4 times your bodyweight 80-100 times per minute (per foot). It’s no wonder around 80% of runners get injured in a year! Run Club does the groundwork so your body can absorb this stress and you have your best chance of staying injury free. For beginner, recreational and competitive runners. Capped at 8 people.
Stretch and Relax
I’ve met about 3 people who are naturally too flexible and shouldn’t work on flexibility. For the rest of us, it’s an area we can improve. The main focus of Stretch and Relax is addressing muscle tightness relating to being locked in one posture too long. If you’re a desk jockey or have to stand all day, this class will help unlock your muscles. Capped at 10 people.
Thinking of taking on a Spartan Race or Tough Mudder? I’ve had numerous top-10 Elite finishes at Spartan Race over the last 6 months and have based this program on my own methods. Simply, this style of training is hard – but it works. A great race is about clearing obstacles and avoiding burpees, and I can help you have your best race ever. Capped at 8 people.
